PLAN BEFORE YOU DRILL
Farmhouse Sink Faucet Reach Calculator
Use your own countertop, faucet-hole and sink measurements to estimate the fixed spout reach needed to place water where you intend. No signup required.
Your planning result
Required fixed reach:
This is the horizontal centerline-to-outlet reach to look for on the faucet manufacturer's technical drawing.
- Inside-rear-wall offset
- Selected forward distance
- Candidate fixed reach
- Calculated horizontal projection past rear wall
What this result does — and does not — tell you
Planning estimate only. It does not predict or guarantee splash control, code compliance, countertop strength, faucet clearance or installation fit. Spout angle, aeration, flow, water pressure, the drain, bottom grid, dishes and standing water all change what the stream actually does.
Compare the result with the faucet manufacturer's technical drawing. Measure the sink you actually received, then have the countertop fabricator or installer approve the cutout and every drilled hole before cutting. NOZLOO fireclay is hand-finished and stated dimensions may vary by ±⅛ inch.
THE PUBLISHED EXAMPLE
Why the example returns 8⅝ inches
- Rear-wall offset: (4 − 3) + 1⅛ = 2⅛ inches.
- Selected forward distance: 6½ inches.
- Required fixed reach: 2⅛ + 6½ = 8⅝ inches.
This reproduces the worked example in the NOZLOO faucet guide. It is not a default for every countertop, sink or faucet.
BEFORE THE HOLE IS DRILLED
Four checks the equation cannot make
- The faucet base and handle complete their full travel without hitting the backsplash or window.
- The mounting shank lands in solid countertop and clears the sink body below.
- The outlet and stream avoid the drain flange, grid bars, divider and workstation accessories.
- The faucet supports the complete countertop thickness and remains serviceable after installation.
QUICK ANSWERS
Faucet reach questions
Is fixed spout reach the same as pull-down hose reach?
No. Fixed reach is the horizontal distance from the faucet centerline to the water outlet while the head is docked. Hose reach only describes how far the pulled-out sprayer can travel.
Does a longer calculated reach mean the faucet will splash less?
No. The calculation places the outlet horizontally. It cannot predict the stream angle, water drop, pressure, aeration or the surface the water will strike.
Can I use the number as a countertop drilling instruction?
No. Use it to screen faucet specifications. The received sink, faucet technical drawing, countertop material, cutout and clearances must be reviewed by the fabricator or installer before drilling.
What should I do if the sink is already installed?
Select the measurable-sink mode and enter the horizontal distance from the faucet-hole centerline to the inside rear wall directly.
